Answers to Your Questions

COMMON QUESTIONS FROM MY CLIENTS

FAQ: FAQ

I WANT A TATTOO BUT I’M ON A LIMITED BUDGET. HOW DO YOU DETERMINE PRICING?

Unlike most shops, I charge on a piece-by-piece basis. I don't charge an hourly rate. Some of the factors that help me arrive at a price point are: complexity of design, size, black/grey or color, and placement on your body. That being said, I pride myself on being the opposite of the old saying "Good tattoos aren't cheap, and cheap tattoos aren't good". I enjoy being a tattoo artist and inking up the world. I don't need to get rich providing you with professional, high quality tattoos. If you do shop around, I'd say on average I charge less than half what other shops in the area are charging.  I do charge a "set" per session fee for larger scale pieces.

DO YOU SELL ALL THE AFTERCARE PRODUCTS I’LL NEED?

No, I don't sell the aftercare products you will need, I will GIVE you them. I have small individual packets of A&D Ointment and offer it to my clients if needed. I don't provide lotion, but what I provide will get you through your first couple of crucial healing days.

DO YOU PREFER TO TATTOO IN COLOR?

My favorite style of tattooing is black and grey. I love doing heavy linework tattoos, and geometric style tattoos. I'm versed in all styles of tattooing, and will happily do a color piece if that's what you want. I aim to please every client, and make sure they get exactly what they want in their tattoo experience.

HOW SOON CAN YOU GET ME IN FOR A TATTOO?

I usually am booked a couple weeks out at a time, but that being said, I also get cancellations and more often than not might be able to bump your appointment up to a sooner date than originally booked.

DO YOU HAVE A SHOP MINIMUM CHARGE?

My shop minimum for set-up is a non-negotiable $40.00, which you will again find is about half what other shops in the area are charging.

DO I NEED TO PAY YOU A DEPOSIT BEFORE YOU'LL BOOK ME FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

I do not require a deposit at this time. I do expect the courtesy of you following through with your appointment though, especially if I've invested a large amount of time in designing an original piece of art for you. I do understand things come up though, and cancellations happen. I just ask that you give me as much notice as possible if you have to cancel our appointment so I can get someone else into your time slot. Due to a recent rise in no-shows and last minute cancellations, a deposit requirement may start happening when booking larger pieces, especially on weekends when my time is of the most value.

DO I NEED TO HAVE A FACE TO FACE MEETING WITH YOU TO DISCUSS MY TATTOO IDEAS?

I'm always willing to meet face to face with my clients. It's not a requirement of mine to have a "pre-appointment appointment". We live in the technology age, and I'm more than happy to discuss your plan and tattoo idea through online means (preferably through e-mail at deeztattoos@gmail.com). Just keep in mind if I'm tattooing at the time your message comes in, I won't respond until I'm done with the current client. But don't fear, I will respond as soon as time permits and usually within 24 hours.

WILL YOU TATTOO SOMEONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 IF THEY HAVE PARENTAL CONSENT?

In the state of Wisconsin, no one under the age of 18 is allowed to be tattooed, even with parental consent. I do require a legitimate form of identification that allows me to verify your age, from all of my clients. (normally a driver's license or state id card).

WILL YOU NEGOTIATE PRICES?

Because I already keep my price point very low, I do not negotiate prices. I understand that money doesn't grow on trees, and I keep that in mind when I quote a price for your tattoo.

DO YOU DO FREE TOUCH-UPS??

I do stand behind my work, and if you take the proper precautions and care of your new tattoo it shouldn't require a touch-up. With that being said, I will do free touch-ups to my tattoos for up to one year from the date of the original tattoo. I do reserve the right to determine if a touch-up is genuinely needed though. If you are missing one speck of ink, on a 10 inch tattoo, that requires a microscope to notice, I'm probably not gonna touch that up. Also something to keep in mind, if you want a finger or hand tattoo, I will do those tattoos, but 99% of the time, they do not "wear" well, and will require a touch-up. I will require my minimum set-up fee to do any touch-ups on that style of a tattoo. One other thing to note, a touch-up appointment is only needed if you are missing areas of ink in the tattoo, it's not a "freebie" appointment to freshen up a tattoo that healed well and looks great.

DO YOU DO FACE, NECK, FINGER, OR HAND TATTOOS?

Yes to all of the above is the answer.  But with that being said there are a few things to keep in mind.  All of these types of tattoos are what we in the "business" call "job killers".  What that means is you really need to do some serious thinking about these tattoos, as these are highly visible tattoos on the body, and even though tattooing and heavily tattooed people is becoming a much more normal sight, these types of tattoos may still take a little more criticism from people that are a bit more conservative with their style.  The term "job killer" is exactly as it sounds.  These tattoos can often be a first impression when interviewing or applying for a job.  Again though, I will do these tattoos, but please take all things into consideration before requesting one.  One other thing to consider, which I've also mentioned above in the touch up section, is that hand and finger tattoos tend to heal a bit harder than other tattoos, because we all use that part of our body so much more, and the hands in particular, tend to take a "beating" on a daily basis.  So touch ups can most often be expected with this style of tattoo.
