AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Remove the bandage/wrap after 2 to 3 hours and gently wash the tattoo with warm water and antibacterial, unscented soap. Avoid fragrant lotions and soaps, which may irritate the skin. Pat the tattoo dry, never rub or wipe with a towel.

Apply a little bit of A&D ointment for the first 2 to 3 days roughly 3 to 5 times daily or when the tattoo itself feels dry to the touch. Don’t use too much, however, as this will over-saturate the tattoo. Put a very thin layer over the surface area of the tattoo, (if your skin appears shiny after applying, that’s too much ointment). If you apply too much ointment the tattoo can't breathe. If the tattoo can't breathe, it can't heal.

After the 2 or 3 days of A&D ointment use a simple white lotion without chemicals and fragrances. (I’m a fan of Curel, Lubriderm, and Eucerin Original Moisturizing Crème)

Stay out of the sun for a couple of weeks to allow the tattoo to set. DO NOT pick or scratch the tattoo. Do not submerge the tattoo in water for the first two weeks. When you shower, water running over the tattoo is ok, but don’t allow the water stream to beat directly on the tattoo itself.
